Although tack sharp focus is considered by many to be an essential element of a great photo, not every photograph needs to have infinite depth of field in order to convey a depth of feeling.
Cinematographers rely on minimal depth of field and subjective focus as important tools to aid a Director's vision. My years in the film industry have clearly influenced my work in this regard.
I love the open-ended and sometimes mysterious quality of images that defy traditional ideas of focus, and tell their own stories in doing so.
